I've been transgendered since before I ever knew what the term meant, and like many I suffered for many decades wondering what was wrong with me. I suffocated in the closet until coming out in 2000, and it was as if the air was fresh for the first time. I began to explore myself and my transgender behavior in 2000 without any fear of what I would find. Emerging from behind the mask of a life not truly mine, yet inadvertently one of my own design, I stood naked before the world refreshed and unafraid. I was confronted with the truth of me as only I knew it, while others could only look on with bemused wonderment, concern or disdain. I had always expected this exploration to lead me to a single motivator -- an event or circumstance -- that caused me to be transgender. But the path has revealed much more than I could have ever planned for, leaving me with the task of now trying to decipher their meanings. Meanwhile, I try enjoy whatever life brings each day.

The founder of TGLIFE.com, I am also a freelance writer that has contributed to TG Forum, TG Crossroads, TG guide, TG Community News, Lady Like Magazine, New York Blade, and from 2001 - 2004 I was the NYC columnist for Girl Talk Magazine, as well as many non-TG publications. Is the reflection I see in the mirror "who I am," or just the taxi that carries me around? I have explored this and many other ideas along the detour that has become my life. Being transgender is by far the most confused, conflicted, distracting yet amazing journey I've ever encountered; interacting with people (in and outside the community) in my varying degrees of gender representation. I co-wrote my first book in 2005 "I'd Do It Again" and am currently writing The Last Woman.

  Hi Brianna, First off, I apologize that I am writing with an issue rather than leaving a "warm & fuzzy" message. I am trying to deal with Member Services with regard to making friends. I am beginning to get requests to be friend with some members and I am unable to respond because the "Join My Friends Network" field does not exist on my page. Member Services tells me that a re-write of the site is being done and it may be that this feature is disabled and yet it seems to be working on everyone else's page. Can you check this story out? I don't have any friends on this site and would like to accept them, not turn them away. I have recently joined TGCD.net and PINKessence because I have been dealing with this issue for about a month now and am getting quite discouraged.
